Nike vs. Adidas

Nike vs. Adidas

When people think about sports and athletics, two brands come into mind: Nike and Adidas. Many think Nike is better, and many think Adidas is better. But what is the determining factor to this intense argument? Which brand is better for a certain sport? What are the pros and cons of each brand? This article will settle everything between the two rivaling companies.

About Nike

Nike is arguably the best brand for athletics and for sportswear. Nike is known to have made basketball shoes, soccer cleats, football cleats, baseball cleats, etc. Nike also has big names signed to a contract such as Lebron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, and many, many more.

About Adidas

Adidas is one of the best brands, if not the best brand, in the world. Adidas makes a lot of basketball shoes, soccer cleats, football cleats and baseball cleats, a lot like Nike does. Adidas has many athletes signed to contracts too. Names like James Harden, Lionel Messi, and a lot more are signed under Adidas.

Athletics for Nike

Nike has strengths and weaknesses in each sport. Nike strongest sport is basketball. Nike has multiple prospects wearing their shoes in the NBA. Not only do they have Lebron James, but they also have Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, Paul George and multiple others. Nike cares about basketball the most out of any sport. Nike has spent more money on basketball shoes, and on athlete contracts than any other sport. This also means that Nike has higher quality basketball shoes than other brands, including Adidas.

Athletics for Adidas

Adidas is extremely reliable in all sports the make their attire for. Unlike Nike, Adidas’ strongest sport is soccer. Adidas is the highest company  when it comes to the futbol. Adidas has signed players such as Lionel Messi, Mohamed Salah, and Paul Pogba to contract. These are many of the top performing athletes in the sport. Adidas also has high quality kits and cleats. Adidas clearly is running the soccer industry.

Nike’s Apparel

Nike has high quality in their basketball kits. In the NBA, each team has at least 3 jerseys, and can have up to 5. This shows how much the Nike cares about the NBA and their basketball industry. With other sports such as football and soccer, teams have 2-4 jerseys, with lower quality. Also, Nike puts millions of dollars into their basketball shoes and other basketball apparel such as socks and undershirts. When it comes to soccer, football and other sports, they do not put in as much money and effort into their apparel.

Adidas Apparel

Adidas has higher quality in their soccer industry than any other sport. Adidas provides well made, high quality kits for teams such as Real Madrid, Juventus, and Manchester United.  All of these teams are extremely dominant in their leagues and in competition. Adidas gives teams 2-5 jerseys depending on what they’re willing to pay. Adidas also has high quality in their socks, cleats and a bunch more. Nike also has high quality in their soccer material, but Adidas has put more money and effort into soccer.

Pros and cons for Nike

Nike has definitely built their corporation around basketball, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have good quality in other sports. Nike’s soccer and football industry is extremely strong. Nike has signed athletes such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., and Kylin Mbappe. In football, Nike has athletes like Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown and Drew Brees. Nike is an extremely good company in every sport, and probably has the most revenue in the world. Nike also has cheaper material in those sports though. Nike’s soccer and basketball cleats fall apart easier, so that people are more encouraged to buy more of their products. In basketball, their shoes are higher quality and less likely to fall apart. This shows how Nike cares about basketball and less about the other sports.

Pros and cons for Adidas

Adidas is built around soccer, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have good material in other sports. Adidas, as i said before, has signed many big name in the NBA such as James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Joel Embiid. The industry that Adidas has built around basketball isn’t weak, it just isn’t as strong as that of Nike’s. Adidas soccer industry is way stronger than their basketball and football industry though. Adidas has built their soccer-ware to be strong and last a long while.

As a final statement, Nike and Adidas are very similar in many, many ways. The only way for you to choose which one is better is on your personal opinion. For me, I choose Adidas over Nike simply because Im a soccer player and i like the comfort Adidas brings to the table. These two brands are simply to good to choose a favorite.
